Taking the first step toward recovery often comes with questions. The below Frequently Asked Questions offer clear, reassuring answers to help you understand our programmes, process, and the care you can expect from our team.

Stabilis provides treatment for substance addictions, including alcohol, prescription medication, and drugs. We also support individuals with co-occurring behavioural addictions such as gambling, provided these occur alongside substance misuse.

Our residential programmes typically run for 21 to 35 days, depending on medical-aid authorisation or private affordability. A full 35-day programme is recommended for optimal recovery, though the exact duration is tailored to each person’s needs.

Our treatment cost covers all essential therapeutic and medical care, including:

  • Individual and group therapy sessions

  • Doctor and psychiatrist consultations

  • Occupational and art therapy

  • Twelve complimentary follow-up sessions after discharge

  • Lifelong access to our weekly Survivors’ Group aftercare support

Yes. Stabilis accepts all recognised medical aids (excluding medical insurance).

Detox at Stabilis is medically supervised and completely safe. Each patient undergoes a full medical assessment, including substance testing (and pregnancy testing where applicable). Our medical team is available 24 hours a day to monitor withdrawal symptoms and ensure comfort and safety throughout the process. When additional medical attention is needed, we work closely with trusted nearby healthcare facilities.

Yes. Family visits are encouraged as part of the healing process and may be arranged on weekends:

  • Saturdays: 09:00 – 13:00

  • Sundays: 14:00 – 17:00

Visits are limited to two family members for one hour, ensuring patients remain focused on their therapeutic schedule.

A detailed packing list is available from our team. It includes essentials such as identification documents, toiletries (alcohol-free), casual clothing, and personal items. Certain items—such as vapes, e-cigarettes, or aerosol products—are not permitted for safety reasons.

Stabilis follows a dual-diagnosis treatment approach, addressing both addiction and any co-occurring mental-health concerns. Our multidisciplinary team of medical and psychological professionals works collaboratively to provide integrated, holistic care for sustainable recovery.

Stabilis is grounded in Christian values and guided by compassion and integrity. While we are a faith-based centre, we welcome and respect people of all belief systems. Patients are invited to participate in daily devotions and may request personal pastoral or spiritual support. We believe that spirituality—whatever form it takes—is a vital part of the healing journey.

Confidentiality is a cornerstone of our care. Stabilis strictly adheres to the Protection of Personal Information (POPI) Act, and no personal information is shared without written consent from the patient. Your privacy, dignity, and trust are always protected.

Yes. Recovery continues long after discharge. We offer:

  • Lifelong access to our weekly Survivors’ Group (Mondays, 17:30 – 18:30)

  • Twelve complimentary follow-up therapy sessions with your therapist

These ongoing touchpoints provide stability, accountability, and encouragement throughout your recovery journey.

Yes. Adolescents under 18 can participate in our five-week outpatient programme, designed to prevent further substance use. The programme focuses on education, healthy coping strategies, and accountability, supported by random substance testing.

Addiction affects the entire family, and we believe healing must include everyone. Each inpatient programme includes up to two free family therapy sessions during treatment, and loved ones are invited to attend our monthly family information sessions for continued education and support.

Relapse can be part of the recovery journey. Should this occur, patients are encouraged to reach out to their therapist for immediate support. Readmission for a short 7-day detox or a full comprehensive programme is available, ensuring care and guidance remain accessible at every stage of recovery.

Simply contact our team at 012 333 7702 or email reception@stabilistc.co.za. While walk-ins are accepted, we recommend contacting us in advance to assist with medical-aid pre-authorisation and ensure a smooth, supportive admission process.
